BOOK WEEK

We have just had a very successful Children's Book Week here in Kalbarri.
The theme this year was "Read Across the Universe". There was a big display
in the library with 'spacey' books and even an astronaut. At lunchtime all
students were invited to come in and create beautiful sparkly stars.
On the Tuesday we had the annual Readers Pic Nic and Friday went off with a bang
with 'Dress as an Alien' day and two exciting stories in the undercover area.
A very successful week indeed!

Year 7 Writer's Excursion to Geraldton

On Thursday June 20, Mr Bradley and a group of Year 7 students went to Geraldton to a Young Writer's Day organised by Fremantle Literacy Centre.
The guest speaker was Brian Falkner, an award-winning writer of children and young adult books. After this entertaining and engaging speach, Mr Bradley and the students returned with a keen interest in reading Mr Falkner's books.
The library holds one of his books, "The Project", and now have two more on order!

"The Project" - It started with a book.
The most boring book in the world!
So boring that nobody would ever read it.
The perfect place to hide a terrible secret.
But now the book has emerged from its hiding
place and the world may never be the same.
Falkner, B. (2010). The Project. Newton, N.S.W. : Walker.
